On marriage
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Now
concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to
touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own
wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” 1 Corinthians 7v1-2 (KJV)
“Now
as to the matters of which you wrote me. It is well [and by that I mean
advantageous, expedient, profitable, and wholesome] for a man not to touch a
woman [to cohabit with her] but to remain unmarried. But because of the
temptation to impurity and to avoid immorality, let each [man] have his own
wife and let each [woman] have her own husband.” 1 Corinthians 7v1-2 (AMP)
God
will have His children live in purity. Now, while it might be advantageous to
stay single, Paul here acknowledges that because of immorality, and the risk of
falling into fornication, each man should have his own wife, and each woman
should have her own husband. An encouragement from this is that there is
someone out there for everyone. Even if the statistics are proclaiming that
there are more women than men or men than women in the world, if the Bible says
each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband, then for
those who are looking up to God for a life partner, there is someone out there
for you. Also, we note too that marriage is a way in which God has allowed for
purity to exist. He didn’t give other options like “friends with benefits” or
once in a while flings. God’s way always pays!
Supplementary Text
“But
to the unmarried people and to the widows, I declare that it is well (good,
advantageous, expedient, and wholesome) for them to remain [single] even as I
do. But if they have not self-control (restraint of their passions), they
should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame [with passion and
tortured continually with ungratified desire].” 1 Corinthians 7v8-9 (AMP)
Prayer
Our
heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, and for Your faithfulness. Indeed
You are good to us. We pray that You will bless marriages o God, let love and
faithfulness abound in them, and we pray that You will divinely connect those
who are waiting on You for marriage with their life partners in Jesus name,
amen.
