Sexual immorality – a matter of life and death

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Another thing that we are warned about from the example of the Israelites after leaving Egypt, is not to engage in sexual immorality.

“We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did – and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.” 1 Corinthians 10v8 (NIV)

If you take God and the things of God seriously, you will know that it is not just sex! Fornication, adultery and sexual immorality are contrary to God’s will, and those who practice it do not have a place in the Kingdom of God. Beloved, don’t try to rationalize and say God understands, what is wrong is wrong. Galatians 5v9-11 (NLT) says “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” That’s why it is important to yield to the Spirit of God and mortify everything of the flesh and carnality still lurking around in our members. Romans 8v9&13 (AMP) say “But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God]…. For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.” Thank God for His Spirit and His power, we are no longer slaves to sin. Take authority today and continually kill everything, and any sin (e.g. see Galatians 5v9-11 above) that is not of God that you find still trying to control you by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).” (Colossians 3v5, AMP).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word this day. I ask for forgiveness for any sexual sin I have committed. Have mercy on me O Lord, and wash me clean with the blood of Jesus. Today, I submit to You Holy Spirit of God, and I mortify, deaden and deprive of power every evil desire, sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, and unholy desires by the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name, amen. I put off the old man and I put on the new nature, I put on Christ in Jesus name, amen.
