Knowing Christ (3)

Dearly Beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We continue looking Philippians 3v8 (AMPC) which says “Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),”. Apart from studying the Word of God, and speaking to God, we can also get to know God through His Spirit.

 

The Bible refers to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Christ. Indeed, Romans 8v9, 14 (AMPC) say “But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls] you. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God] … For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” Indeed, we have the Spirit of God to guide us into all truth. If you want to have a deep and intimate relationship with Christ, you need His Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2v11-12 (NLT) says “No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” Amen. To really know God, we need His Spirit, and the wonderful thing is that as children of God, we do have His Spirit. Let us cultivate an intimate and loving relationship with Christ leaning on the Holy Spirit.

 

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You for Your Spirit who is in us and with us, who guides us into all truth. Lord Jesus, we want to know You more and more and be more deeply and intimately acquainted with You. Help us Spirit of Truth, in Jesus name, amen.
