Won’t You Come
Hello everyone. Happy 2021. We thank God for bringing us to this year, for preserving our lives and all He has in store for us. We start this year looking at Matthew 11:28.
New Living Translation: “Then Jesus said, “Come
to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you
rest.”
Classic Amplified Bible: “Come to Me, all you
who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.
[I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]”
To labor means to perform labor; exert one's
powers of body or mind; work; toil. To be weary is to be physically or mentally
exhausted by hard work, exertion, strain, etc.; fatigued; tired. To be heavy
laden means to be carrying a heavy load, be very tired or troubled; burdened.
2020 was a year in which many labourered, became tired mentally and physically,
were stressed and strained, and burdened. Additional burdens brought by Covid
and lock downs and lost incomes brought a lot of burdens.... and it hasn’t
eased up this year.
Jesus says, if you are weary and are heavy
laden, come to Him. To come means to approach or move toward a particular
person or place. When you come, He will give you rest - a refreshing, relieve
weariness by cessation of exertion or labor, and the refreshing quiet or repose
of sleep. Won’t you come to Him today?
Prayer
Lord, we thank You and honor You. Most
importantly, we come to You with every care, burden, labor and weariness and
look to You for Your rest in Jesus name, amen.
