In time past
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in
the Lord. We do thank God for bringing us to see the month of August. The Bible
tells us that:
Primary Text
“For you have spent enough time in the past doing what
pagans choose to do – living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies,
carousing and detestable idolatry.” 1 Peter 4v3 (NIV)
Ephesians 2v1-5 (AMP) though long explains quite well how we were dead
in our sins, but were made alive in Christ. Are you living your life for the
glory of God or are you still indulging yourself in things you did in time
past?
“And you [He made alive], when you were dead
(slain) by [your] trespasses and sins In which at one time you walked
[habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world
[were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince
of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the
[demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the
careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of
God]. Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves
in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual
nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our
cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by
nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like
the rest of mankind. But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and
in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with
which He loved us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and
trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with
Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with
which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did
not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of
Christ’s salvation).” Ephesians 2v1-5 (AMP)
Supplementary Text
“Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members
[and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though
you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members
[and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness. For sin
shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law
[as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God’s favor and mercy].” Romans
6v13-14 (AMP)
Prayer
Heavenly Father I thank You so much for the privilege of
knowing You and serving You. I yield to You and ask that You be glorified in my
life in every way, in Jesus name, amen.
