Knowledge (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For this very reason, adding your diligence
[to the divine promises], employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop
virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue
[develop] knowledge (intelligence),” 2 Peter 1v5 (AMP)
Not only is it good to have proper knowledge
about God, and who He is, it is also important to have the proper knowledge and
intelligence of things in general. For instance as a student, your coursework;
a worker, things pertinent to your work; parents, how to raise kids; people
looking to get married or married couples, what is marriage about e.t.c. Though
there is a plethora of information out there today, even with this we might be
limited in the knowledge we have. However, Jeremiah 33v3 (AMP) says “Call to Me
and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not
distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).” We see in the
lives of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, that although they had already
been selected as four of “Children
in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and
cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in
them to stand in the king’s palace, and in whom they might teach the learning
and the tongue of the Chaldeans” God still gave them “knowledge and skill in
all learning and wisdom…”. At the end of the period of training that the king
had ordered, none impressed the king more than these four children, and “in all
matters of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king asked them, he
found them ten times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters who
were in his whole realm (Daniel 1v4, 17, 19, 20). One thing Daniel did though
was to purpose in his heart not to defile himself with a portion of the king’s
meat. (Daniel 1v8).
Supplementary Text
“Yea, if thou criest
after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest
her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou
understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD
giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2v3-6
(KJV)
Prayer
Our heavenly Father, we thank You so much for
Your Word. Father, we pray that You will grant us knowledge and skill in all
wisdom and learning, and for every aspect of our lives, to the glory of Your
name, in Jesus name, amen.
