God’s temple (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, faithfulness, and lovingkindness.
Primary Text
“If
anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or
destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death
and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that
[temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.” 1
Corinthians 4v17 (AMP)
“If
anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is
sacred, and you together are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 4v17 (NIV)
This
verse shows us that God does not deal lightly with His temple, it is holy to
Him and sacred. In this verse it is said that anyone who hurts God’s temple or
corrupts it with false doctrines, God will destroy such a person. Are you one
of those who are defiling the temple of God? Are you sharing a doctrine that is
not of God? Take heed and stop immediately! Also, because our bodies are the
temple of God, we need to honor God with our bodies. The Spirit of the living
God lives on the inside of us, and so we should not go about sinning with our
bodies. There are people, who even not Christians, might be careful about doing
bad things in a church building or another holy place or ground. But we are the
temple. We are that holy place for God to dwell in. 1 Corinthians 6v12-20 (NIV)
says:
Supplementary Text
““I
have the right to do anything,” you say – but not everything is beneficial. “I
have the right to do anything” – but I will not be mastered by anything. You
say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them
both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord,
and the Lord for the body. By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and
He will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ
Himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a
prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute
is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But
whoever is united with the Lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee from sexual
immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever
sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies
are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your
bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6v12-20 (NIV)
Prayer
If
you know you have not honored God with your body, repent this day and ask for
grace to do so now and always.
