Peace (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Now may the Lord of
peace Himself grant you His peace (the peace of His kingdom) at all times and
in all ways [under all circumstances and conditions, whatever comes]. The Lord
[be] with you all.” 2 Thessalonians 3v16 (AMP)
One of the ways we
can access the peace of the Lord is through prayer. Philippians 4v6-7 (AMP)
says “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance
and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with
thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall
be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through
Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot
of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall
garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Beloved,
what is it that has your heart troubled, anxious, disturbed, or fretful? Take
it to the Lord in prayer. Our Lord Jesus (see below) showed us the example of
doing this. He had to take on the most tremendous assignment of His life, He
didn’t want to go through it, He was in agony, but His response was not to run
about, it was to pray about it, to take it to the Father in prayer. Three times
He kept on the same prayer point. The Living Bible puts it this way “Don’t
worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and
don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this, you will experience
God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.
His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you
trust in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4v6-7, TLB). It doesn’t matter how
agonizing your situation may seem, how terrible it may be, what your eyes may
see or how impossible your head is telling you the situation is – our God is
able to give you peace in every circumstance. Just take it to Him in prayer.
Supplementary Text
“They went to a place
called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He
took Peter, James and John along with Him, and He began to be deeply distressed
and troubled. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” He
said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” Going a little farther, He fell to
the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from Him. “Abba, Father,” He said, “everything is
possible for you. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You
will.” Then He returned to His disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” He
said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you watch for one hour? Watch and pray
so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh
is weak.” Once more He went away and prayed the same thing. When He came back,
He again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know
what to say to Him. Returning the third time, He said to them, “Are you still
sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is
delivered into the hands of sinners.” Mark 14v32-41 (NIV)
Prayer
Is there something
bothering you today – why don’t you take it to the Lord in prayer… and don’t
forget to thank Him for the answer.
