That I might not sin
Hello everyone,
How are you doing
on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“In the beginning was the Word …” John
1v1 (KJV)
The Word of God
helps children of God to keep back from sin. Psalm 119v9&11 (KJV) says “Wherewithal
shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy
word… Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” The
Living Bible puts it this way: “How can a young man stay pure? By reading Your
Word and following its rules… I have thought much about Your words and stored
them in my heart so that they would hold me back from sin.” The Word of God can
serve as an instructor, teacher, guide and check on the believer. 2 Timothy
3v16-17 (ERV) tells us “All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is
useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is
useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live. Using the
Scriptures, those who serve God will be prepared and will have everything they
need to do every good work.” By knowing God’s Word and putting it in your heart
and taking heed unto it, one is able to stay away from sin because you would
know what God does not like and what He would have you do. Psalm 119v165 (AMP)
says “Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or
make them stumble.” Child of God are you are reader of the Word of God? Do you
make it a chief priority to know what God’s Word says? Are you a doer of the
Word?
Prayer
Father we thank
You so much for Your Word. We know that Thy Word is truth and it is profitable
for instructing us in righteousness. Thank You for this O Lord. We pray dear
Father for the grace to study and adhere to Your Word now and always in Jesus
name, amen.
