The Words of Life
Hello everyone,
How are you doing
on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“In the beginning was the Word …” John
1v1 (KJV)
One of the major
things God’s Word does for the believer is to instruct, teach, rebuke, correct and
train in righteousness that we may be able to do good to all (2 Timothy 3v16-17).
Indeed through His Word we get to know what He likes or doesn’t like. We become
acquainted with His ways. The Psalmist put it this way “Thy word is a lamp unto
my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119v105, KJV). We therefore see a
longing that he shows for the word of the Lord: “How sweet are Your words to my
taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalm 119v103, NIV). The Almighty God
Himself told Joshua – “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate
on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1v8, NIV). However, as we see it is not only
important to read the Word but also to be a doer of it. James 1v25 (ERV) saying
“But when you look into God’s perfect law that sets people free, pay attention
to it. If you do what it says, you will have God’s blessing. Never just listen
to His teaching and forget what you heard.”
Prayer
Father we thank
You for Your words – words of grace, life-giving words that instruct us and
light our way. We pray that Your words would become sweet to our taste, and
sweeter than honey to our mouths in Jesus name, amen. The grace not only to
hear but also to do, please grant unto us in Jesus name, amen.
