Tried Faith
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope
well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His love, His grace, His
faithfulness, and tendermercies over our lives.
Primary Text
“Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though
now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth,” 1 Peter 1v6 (KJV)
One thing that happens when we go
through temptations, is that our faith is tried. But this trying of faith, is
much more precious than of gold that perisheth, hallelujah. Have you ever found
that when you go through a very trying season, when your faith is tested, when
you had to hold onto God more than ever before, maybe you even lost some friends
in the process, that you came out stronger, more confident, and believing in
God – if you did not turn back during the time? Have you realized that it is to
those periods of heavy testing that you look back to when something else
happens along the way, if you did not turn back? David, when he was going to
face Goliath, spoke of how God had delivered him from the paw of the lion and
the bear. He had something to look back to. At times, the trying of our own
faith then becomes the source of encouragement for others. 2 Corinthians 1v3-4 (TLB)
says “What a wonderful God we have—he is the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully
comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do
this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement,
we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.” Ultimately, we want to make it to heaven. Jesus suffered dying
on the cross for us, now we can look to Him as the author and finisher of our faith
(Hebrews 12v2). Through the trying of our faith therefore, if we do not faint,
and continue in the Lord, we ultimately believe Him unto the saving of our
souls, which is much more precious than gold. Hold on. Jesus loves you.
Supplementary Text
“My brethren, count it all joy when
ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be
perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1v2-3 (KJV)
Prayer
Father, I thank You for the trying of
our faith. Keep me strong during these trials in Jesus name, amen.
