Divine Intimacy
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelations 3v20
(KJV)
“Look!
I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will
come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” Revelations 3v20 (NLT)
One
will find that the people we eat with are the ones we are most likely to be friends
with and be intimate (close to, dear to, warm towards, near to, friendly with,
cherish) with. Because food is a necessity of life, it is easy to know more
about a person as you observe what they eat, how they eat it, how they act or
react in the presence or absence of food, how they prepare their food e.t.c.
Consequently, as you continuously share a meal with a person, you tend to relax
and begin to bond with them; letting your guard down. In the verse above, Jesus
shares this concept and depicts that He wants to be intimate with us, He wants
to be our friend. From Genesis to Revelation, we see that God desires to have a
relationship with man. Now we know that our relationship with God has different
faces such as – Father to son, Shepherd to sheep, Vine to the branch, Potter to
clay e.t.c.; but the first step is always responding to Him when He comes to
us. Beloved, what is your response to the knock on the door today? Are you
willing to have Him come in and sup with you? Zaccheeus for example welcomed
Him gladly.
Supplementary Text
“Jesus
entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of
Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who
Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran
ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that
way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus,
come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came
down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to
mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and
said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to
the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four
times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house,
because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and
to save the lost.” Luke 19v1-10 (NIV)
Prayer
Why
don’t you tell the Lord that You are opening up the door of your life to Him
for Him to come and sup with you always.
