Thank God it’s Monday
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. A very
happy Monday to you. Indeed, this is the day that the Lord has made
and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Many times, we
view Monday with trepidation, anxiety and wistfulness; a longing for
a repeat of the weekend that has just gone by. But this should not be the
case. Monday, just like the weekend is a day that the Lord has made and we
are to rejoice and be glad in it.
One
reason Monday isn't much liked is the fact that it is the beginning
of a "work week". However, if we took a God perspective on work, perhaps
we will view it differently. For example, in John 5v17 (NLT), the Bible records
our Lord Jesus saying "My Father is always working, and so am I." God
is our Father, and He works. As His children therefore, we should continue to
work and enjoy that work. We see even from Genesis 1 that God had been working,
and the first thing He gave man to do was work. God is a God of purpose.
Imagine for one minute God stopped working; imagine all the things that would
go out of place. In the same vein, God has placed things in our hands to do,
for a purpose, for His purpose.
Indeed,
being able to work and enjoy it, is a blessing from the Lord, which we should
ask for. Ecclesiastes 3v13 (NLT) says “That each of them may eat and drink, and
find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes
5v19-20 says “And, of course, it is very good if a man has received wealth from
the Lord and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and to accept your
lot in life—that is indeed a gift from God. The person who does that will not
need to look back with sorrow on his past, for God gives him joy.”
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for the grace and the ability to work. We ask this day for
the grace to enjoy our work and to see our work through Your eyes. We acknowledge
the possibility of weariness and fatigue, but are even more grateful that You
are never tired. Instead You give power to the faint and weary, and increase strength
for they that have no might. We ask for your empowerment and increased strength
Lord, now and forevermore, in Jesus name, amen.
