Slaves?
Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of
depravity – for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” 2 Peter 2v19
(NIV)
2 Peter 2v19 continues on to tell us about the false teachers. One thing
they promise is liberty, yet they themselves are slaves, slaves to things that
will be destroyed, slaves to their evil desires and immorality and sin. Child
of God, are you enslaved by something today? Romans 6v16 (NIV) says “Don’t you
know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are
slaves of the one you obey – whether you are the slaves to sin, which leads to
death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?” What do the choices you
make say of who you are yielding to? Do you yield to your flesh, or the Spirit
of God? Who are you serving? Romans 8v6 (AMP) says “Now the mind of the flesh
[which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that
comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the
mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].”
Because of all that Christ accomplished for us, and the life we now live
in Him, we are dead to sin, and do not need to live in subjection to sin
anymore. Romans 6v9-12 (KJV) says “Knowing that Christ being raised from the
dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him. For in that He died,
He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Beloved, “… consider yourselves
to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus” (Romans
6v11, NLT). 2 Corinthians 5v15 (AMP) says “And He died for all, so that all
those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him
Who died and was raised again for their sake.”
Supplementary Text
“Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and
faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and
yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to
[perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting
them as implements of righteousness.” Romans 6v13 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word. Father, I offer every member
of my body to you as an instrument of righteousness in Jesus name, amen. Spirit
of the living God, overshadow my frailties and have Your way in me. I yield to
You today in Jesus name, amen.
