Springs without water
Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for another day and bringing us to the last
day of October. For His grace, strength, shield and protection, we glorify His
name.
Primary Text
“These people are springs without water and
mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth
empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh,
they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error.” 2 Peter
2v17-18 (NIV)
“Those false teachers are like springs without
water and clouds blown by a storm. A place in the blackest darkness has been
kept for them. They brag with words that mean nothing. By their evil desires
they lead people into the trap of sin – people who are just beginning to escape
from others who live in error.” 2 Peter 2v17-18 (NCV)
“There’s nothing to these people – they’re
dried-up fountains, storm-scattered clouds, headed for a black hole in hell.
They are loudmouths, full of hot air, but still they’re dangerous. Men and
women who have recently escaped from a deviant life are most susceptible to
their brand of seduction.” 2 Peter 2v17-18 (MSG)
The Bible continues here to speak about false
teachers, and says that they are like springs without water. Can you imagine
being really thirsty and you come to a spring and there is no water in it. It
also mentions that blackest darkness is reserved for them. Now some might say
why is God so angry with these people, but you must remember that God loves His
children so much, and these ones are penetrating into His fold and deceiving
people and pulling them away. Like Balaam, because of personal gain, he let the
king of Moab know how he might bring God’s curse on the children of Israel. The
Bible tells us that those who are most susceptible to their brand of seduction
are those who have just begun to escape from them who are wrongdoers. Imagine
someone who just gave his or her life to Christ, and then they meet a false
teacher who tells them its okay to live sexually immoral lives or just seduce
them in one way or the other for personal gain, think of what might happen to
that person who is just new in the faith! Now, you can get an idea of why God
is so upset with these people.
Supplementary
Text
“These people are blemishes at your love
feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm – shepherds who feed only
themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn
trees, without fruit and uprooted – twice dead.” Jude 1v12 (NIV)
