The Ungodly (4)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“They have caused many people to suffer, so
they themselves will suffer. That is their pay for what they have done. They
take pleasure in openly doing evil, so they are like dirty spots and stains
among you. They delight in deceiving you while eating meals with you. Every
time they look at a woman they want her, and their desire for sin is never
satisfied. They lead weak people into the trap of sin, and they have taught
their hearts to be greedy. God will punish them!” 2 Peter 2v13-14 (NCV)
Luke 17v1-2 (NLT) says “One day Jesus said to
His disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits
the person who does the tempting! It would be better to be thrown into the sea
with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones
to fall into sin.” This verse gives us some insight into why God is so upset
with the false teachers. One of the things is that they lead other people
astray – the Bible saying “They lead weak people into the trap of sin” How
awful! Matthew 7v15-20 (AMP) cautions us by saying “Beware of false prophets,
who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves. You
will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns,
or figs from thistles? Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit
[worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad
(worthless) fruit. A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor
can a bad (diseased) tree bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration]. Every
tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits.”
Supplementary
Text
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost
here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness,
not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about
how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” Romans 13v12-14 (NIV)
Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for Your Word.
Father, in these days, keep me from being deceived and straying from the faith
and the Truth, in Jesus name, amen.
