False Teachings

“Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is the Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you – unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.” 1 Corinthians 15v1-2 (NLT)

Another reason why it is good to be reminded of the Gospel, is because there are false teachings and false prophets. Both Apostles Paul and Peter noted this fact in the church and the Holy Spirit highlighted this as well. 1 Timothy 4v1-2 (NLT) says “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.” Beloved, let us dig deep into the Word for ourselves. If you know the original, it is easier to spot the counterfeit. 2 Corinthians 11v3-4 (NIV) says “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” As believers, we need to be careful about what we hear and accept as true. We need to hold fast to the “Gospel Truth”, and may we not be one of those who lead others astray in Jesus name, amen.

“This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.” Galatians 5v9-10 (NLT)

Prayer

Father God, we thank You so much for Your Word and the Gospel. Father we pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better. We pray too that You will expose every false teaching in Your church and that You will keep us from believing them in Jesus name, amen.
