Risen and Seen
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
[also] that He appeared to Cephas (Peter), then to the Twelve. Then later He
showed Himself to more than five hundred brethren at one time, the majority of
whom are still alive, but some have fallen asleep [in death]. Afterward He was
seen by James, then by all the apostles (the special messengers),” 1
Corinthians 15v5-7 (AMP)
After
our Lord Jesus Christ died, and was buried and rose again from the death, He
showed Himself to Peter, His disciples, more than five hundred brethren, James
and His apostles before He ascended into heaven. When Jesus died though, for
some of His followers the situation was unimaginable and brought on much
sorrow, because they had assumed that He would be the Messiah and the redeemer
of Israel. And He was! The Bible records Him meeting two of His followers after
He had risen as they walked: “As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus
Himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from
recognizing Him. He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you
walk along?” They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.” (Luke
24v14-17, AMP). But beloved, there is no need to be sad. It was all in God’s
plan that Jesus died for us, but He wasn’t left in the grave. He is risen!
Jesus showed Himself to witnesses before He ascended into heaven again. Thank
God that Jesus died for us, and He is alive forevermore.
Supplementary Text
“And
as they thus spake, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto
them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed
that they had seen a spirit. And He said unto them, Why are ye troubled and why
do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I
Myself: handle Me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see Me
have. And when He had thus spoken, He shewed them His hands and His feet. And
while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, He said unto them, Have ye
here any meat? And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an
honeycomb. And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you,
that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and
in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me. Then opened He their
understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the
dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are
witnesses of these things.” Luke 14v36-48 (KJV)
