Jesus the True Vine

How are you doing on this fine Monday! I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text

“I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Husbandman.” John 15v1 (KJV)

True can mean factual, accurate, right, spot on, correct, proper and exact, while a Vine can be seen as a climbing plant. God the Father is the Husbandman or Gardener. Jesus is the real thing. I remember the story of an aunt who drank the white vinegar in the fridge, thinking it was water. Many are partaking of and staying connected to false vines, when Jesus is the True Vine – the true nourisher, sustainer, life-giver, peace giver, purpose giver, the way… In John 14v6 (AMP) the Bible records that “Jesus said to Him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.” The opposite of true is false. The devil is the father of lies and all that is false (John 8v44, AMP) and through the Bible we know that there are many things that are false including witnesses, teachers, prophets, doctrines, gods, arguments, apostles, believers, brethren, and humility… But John 8v30-31 (NIV) exhorts that “To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.””

“But wicked men and imposters will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and leading astray others and being deceived and led astray themselves. But as for you, continue to hold to the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced, knowing from whom you learned [them], And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].” 2 Timothy 3v13-15 (AMP)

Prayer

Father we thank You for Your Word. Jesus we thank You because You are the True Vine. Today, we knock down false arguments in our lives and take every thought captive and bring it to the obedience of Christ in Jesus name, amen.
