Preserving our Will
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“… and may your spirit and soul and body be
preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ (the Messiah). “ 1 Thessalonians 5v23 (AMP)
The will of man is part of the soul of man, in
addition to the mind and the emotions. The will can be: “the faculty of
conscious and especially of deliberate action; the power of control the mind
has over its own actions: the freedom of
the will; power of choosing one’s own actions: to have a strong or a weak will; the act or process of using or
asserting one’s choice; volition: My
hands are obedient to my will; wish or desire: to submit against one’s will; purpose or determination, often
hearty or stubborn determination; willfulllness: to have the will to succeed.” (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/will?s=t).
One might desire to do something, and make up one’s mind to do it, but not have
enough will power to do it. Some have lost the will to live, to succeed, to
serve God e.t.c. But our wills also need to be preserved sound and complete and
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We can strengthen our will by
the Word of God, and by faith in Him. For example, we note that 2 Timothy 1v7
(AMP) tells us that “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of
cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a
spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline
and self-control.” Keep reminding yourself of what you have and who are in
Christ. In the face of discouragement, Romans 8v28 (KJV) becomes a shield of
faith to give you the will to keep on going and continue hoping for it is
written “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” And if we find that
we are lacking this strength, we can pray for more:
Supplementary Text
“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited
resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit.”
Ephesians 3v16 (NLT)
