A growing faith
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I
hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“We are bound to thank God always
for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly,
…” 2 Thessalonians 1v3 (KJV)
“Dear brothers, giving thanks to
God for you is not only the right thing to do, but it is our duty to God
because of the really wonderful way your faith has grown …” 2 Thessalonians 1v3
(NIV)
“Dear brothers and sisters, we
can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing…” 2
Thessalonians 1v3 (NLT)
What is faith? Hebrews 11v1 (AMP)
says “Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the
things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction
of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the
senses].” Amen. By faith, we are saved, and by faith we receive from the Lord
the things He has promised us. Faith is dependent on the Word of God; Romans
10v17 (KJV) says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God.” There are some we say are children in the faith, perhaps because they are
newly born again, but faith can and should grow. In 2 Thessalonians 1v3 we see
that faith is said to be growing exceedingly, or flourishing. Indeed our faith
can be strong. For Abraham, it was said was not weak in faith (Romans 4v19).
Supplementary Text
“He did not weaken in faith when he
considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead
because he was a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of
Sarah’s [deadened] womb. No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly
question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered
by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, Fully satisfied and assured that
God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised. That is
why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).”
Romans 4v19-22 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, we thank You for faith. We
pray that we would continue to grow in our faith in Jesus name, amen.
