JEHOVAH
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this
day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“There came a man sent
from God, whose name was John.” John 1v6 (AMP)
Another name of God is
Jehovah. Exodus 6v2-5 (KJV) says “And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him,
I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob by the
name of God Almighty, but by My name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. And I
have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan,
the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. And I have also
heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in
bondage; and I have remembered My covenant.” Here, the LORD God is saying while
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob saw God as God Almighty i.e. El-Shaddai, they did not
know Him as JEHOVAH (note that some other translations call JEHOVAH Lord). The Dakes
concordance gives some insight into this, saying, He used El-Shaddai “instead of
Jehovah, which means the Self-Existing or Eternal One who keeps covenant and
fulfills promises. He could not fulfill with them what He promised concerning
their future posterity (v3). It is true that the name Jehovah was used from the
very beginning (…Genesis 2:4); nevertheless, the full meaning of it was not
made known to men until it was time to fulfill the promises and covenants with
Israel as a nation.” One thing we draw from this is that God is a covenant
keeping God, One who fulfils promises. He is able to give a promise and fulfill
it as He shows to the children of Israel. Every covenant of life, peace, joy,
answered prayers, He is able to fulfill. 2 Corinthians 1v20 (AMP) tells us “For
as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him
[Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him
[in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.” Amen.
Prayer
Father we thank You for
this day. We thank You for You are a covenant keeping God. We thank You that
the yes to all of Your promises is in Christ and we can say Amen to them to the
glory of God. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore. We say Amen to every
promise You have made to us and receive their fulfillment by faith being fully
persuaded that You are more than able to bring them to pass in Jesus name,
amen.
