Learning from Jehoshapath (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing
on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And Jehoshaphat stood in the
congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new
court, And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and
rulest not Thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in Thine hand is
there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand Thee? Art not Thou
our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before Thy people
Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham Thy friend for ever? And they
dwelt therein, and have built Thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, If,
when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we
stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,)
and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.” 2
Chronicles 20v6-9 (KJV)
Jehoshapath was
faced was bombarded by the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the
Meunites; a great multitude. He became scared but set himself to seek the LORD,
and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. Next, he prayed before the people.
If we look at his prayer, he started by adulating and praising God; reminding
Him of that which He had done in time past and of His promises. Beloved, the
Bible tells us to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts
with praise (Psalm 100v4). It is good to remember and let God know you remember
the works of His hands. To come rejoicing and jubilating before His presence.
This is as well is a weapon of warfare, that when the enemy arises you can say
Father, You are the Most High God, the One who reigns above all, nothing
escapes Your notice, You can never fail, You have never failed, You made sure I
was born, You kept me all this while, You gave me a roof over my head, I know
You are for me, because You have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me …
and on and on and on.
Prayer
Why don’t you
begin to bless and honour Him…
