Well-Timed Help
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble.” Psalm 46v1 (KJV)
“God is our refuge and strength, a tested help in times of
trouble.” Psalm 46v1 (TLB)
“God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and
impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in
trouble.” Psalm 46v1 (AMP)
“God is our refuge and
strength, always
ready to help in times of trouble.” Psalm 46v1 (NLT)
Nothing
catches God by surprise. Indeed He is the Alpha and He is the Omega. And so
when situations arise and we are wondering what to do – turn to God! Psalm 46v1
says He is our refuge and strength, able to provide well-timed help. 1 Peter
5v7 tells us to cast the whole of our cares and anxieties unto Him because He
cares for us. What will this look like? It may not be the absence of the
problem, but a peace and confident assurance within it that all will be well. I
love Psalm 55v22 in the Amplified version which says “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and
He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be
moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).” What is that weight you are carrying? Let
it go. You do not and should not carry it. What should you do – let there be an
exchange, made in full confidence and assurance of the One you are giving it
to. The One who said “Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work
so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me
teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls;
for I give you only light burdens.” (Matthew 11v28-30, TLB). Indeed, our God
says to us “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of
money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and
be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He
[God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor
leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any
degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor [let [you] down (relax
My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] So we take comfort and are encouraged and
confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized
with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13v5-6 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You because You are our Help. What is it that is weighing you down
this day? Why don’t you take it to the Lord in prayer – let there be an
exchange!
