Watch that Thought (6)
Hello
everyone,
How are you
doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We have been looking
at an encouragement on our thought life and what we should think about. Philippians
6v8 (KJV) says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely …” Lovely can be defined as
“charmingly or exquisitely beautiful: a
lovely flower; having a beauty that appeals to the heart or mind as well as
to the eye, as a person or a face; delightful; highly pleasing: to have a lovely time; of a great moral
or spiritual beauty: a lovely character; very
attractive or beautiful; enjoyable; loving and attentive; inspiring love;
lovable” (www.dictionary.com).
There are
so many lovely things in the world today. Our God is a lovely God. Being in His
presence is lovely. Psalm 84v1 says: “HOW LOVELY are Your tabernacles, O Lord
of hosts!” (AMP). His presence in the life of a person is lovely. We thank God
for lovely things. The Shunammite woman in describing her beloved said: “… yea,
he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters
of Jerusalem.” (Song of Solomon 5v16). “Timely advice is lovely, like golden
apples in a silver basket.” (Proverbs 25v11, NLT). We are told it is good to
sing praises to God, for He is gracious and lovely (Psalm 147v1).
How then do
we fix our thoughts on what is lovely? I think through the help of God, we can
begin to appreciate more of the lovely things around us that He has created.
God is a good God. We can also ask Him that Lord, in the midst of all that is
happening around me, help me to think lovely thoughts, and not to pervert the
loveliness I see around me. For instance, Bathsheba was lovely to look at, but
the adultery David committed, wasn’t lovely (2 Samuel 11).
Prayer
Father, we
thank You for this day. Father I pray, that You will fill our thoughts with
lovely things. Help us to see through Your eyes the loveliness that You
surround us with each and every day, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
