On Guard (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well
and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Watch ye,...” 1 Corinthians 16v13
(KJV)
“Be alert and on your guard;… 1
Corinthians 16v13 (AMP)
One reason we believers should be watchful
is so that we are not caught unawares when our Lord come. Matthew 24v42-43
(KJV) says “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But
know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief
would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be
broken up.” Indeed, let us not
be like the scoffers mentioned in 2 Peter 3v3-4 (NLT) – “Most importantly, I
want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth
and following their own desires. They
will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before
the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world
was first created.” Let us also not become weary and faint – “Do not,
therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For
you have need of steadfast patience and
endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus
receive and carry
away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised. For still a little while (a very
little while), and the Coming One will come and He will not delay. But the just
shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction
respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of
faith and conjoined with it]; and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him. But our way
is not that of those who draw back to eternal misery (perdition) and are
utterly destroyed, but we are of those who believe [who cleave to and trust in
and rely on God through Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by faith preserve the soul.” Hebrews 10v35-38 (AMPC)
Supplementary
Text
“For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4v16-18 (KJV)
