A consecrated life
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the
Lord.
Primary Text
“But in a
great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils]
of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble [use] and some for
menial and ignoble [use]. So whoever cleanses himself (from what is ignoble and
unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting
influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable
and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for
any good work.” 2 Timothy 2v20-21 (AMP)
I
recently heard a message titled ‘The power of a consecrated life’. Consecration
was defined to mean: 1. A cleansing from dishonorable things; 2. Dedication –
being set aside to God; 3. To be used by God for a purpose. All three elements
are important for one to be consecrated. To be consecrated, it is unto God and
it is for a purpose. One realizes however that at the end of the day, this
consecration is not only for ourselves, but for the sake of others. Our Lord
Jesus Christ for example, lived a life that was without sin, He was totally
sold out to God and came to earth to die for a purpose. Because of the
consecrated life that He lived, salvation is available for us, man can be
reconciled to God and have an abundant life. A consecrated life is a life
style, a continual journey with and for God, through the power of the Holy Spirit
so that purpose can be achieved. Daniel who purposed in his heart not to defile
himself with a portion of the king’s meat and with the wine which he drank was
able to call upon God when the king ordered all the wise men to be killed
(Daniel 1 & 2). Child of God, we have been made kings and priests unto our
God (Revelation 1v6). There is a purpose for your life and God has a plan for
your life (Jeremiah 29v11; Ephesians 2v10). But there is a choice that you have
to make as to whether you will be a vessel unto honour or unto dishonour. You
make a decision, working out your salvation with fear and trembling, living a
life dedicated to God and God in turn gives you the willingness and the ability
to please Him (Philippians 2v12-13). Paul told Timothy “Practice and cultivate
and meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them [as your
ministry], so that your progress may be evident to everybody. Look well to
yourself [to your own personality] and to [your] teaching; persevere in these
things [hold to them], for by so doing you will save both yourself and those
who hear you” 1 Timothy 4v15-16 (AMP). At the end of the day, your continued
consecration to God will be evident to all, and would be useful in saving both
yourself and the people who hear you.
Prayer
Our
Father and our God, we thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You for the
vessels we are to You. Father, we pray that we be vessels unto honour,
consecrated and profitable to the Master. We ask for a cleansing by Your blood
of any impurities. We dedicate and yield ourselves wholly to You. We ask in
anyway that we have moved from Your purpose for our lives, that in Your mercy,
that You who are our Potter will mold us again as seems good to You. Let us
fulfill destiny o God and let Your name alone be glorified in our lives. We
thank You and ask all these in Jesus name, amen.
