Sharing the Gospel (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His
mercy, grace, and the salvation of our souls.
Primary Text
“As
for myself, brethren, when I came to you, I did not come proclaiming to you the
testimony and evidence or mystery and secret of God [concerning what He has
done through Christ for the salvation of men] in lofty words of eloquence or
human philosophy and wisdom; For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted
with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be
conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him
crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2v1-2 (AMP)
“You’ll
remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master
stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest
philosophy. I deliberately kept it simple: first Jesus and who He is; then
Jesus and what He did – Jesus crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2v1-2 (MSG)
Sometimes
in our attempt to talk about the Lord and what He has done for us, we may want
to think up big words or analogies to things that are happening around, or be
philosophical. But Paul gives insight into something he did when he went to the
Corinthians to tell them about the Gospel. He said, “I deliberately kept it
simple: first Jesus and who He is; then Jesus and what He did – Jesus
crucified.” Child of God, are you having difficulties sharing the gospel, well,
start with Jesus and who He is, then Jesus and what He did. Romans 1v16 (see
below) tells us that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Hallelujah!
Supplementary Text
“For
I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God’s power
working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who
believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to
the Jew first and also to the Greek,” Romans 1v16 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for Jesus and who He is, and Jesus and
what He did. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore, in Jesus name we pray,
amen.
