The wisdom of God (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this
world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of
glory.” 1 Corinthians 2v7-8 (KJV)
Paul
here talks of the wisdom of God, which was before hidden, this mystery, - which
was that Jesus, would come and die for us on the Cross-, and through His death
and resurrection, and by faith in Him, we would not die but have everlasting
life. Now this wisdom of God, is different from the wisdom of this age and of
the world. And even when the plan was being unfolded, even then, the princes of
this world did not understand it, for if they had, the Word said they would not
have crucified the Lord of glory. John 1v10-11 (NIV) tells us that “He was in
the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not
recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive
Him.” We even see Peter, who had said that Jesus was “…the Messiah, the Son of the
living God”, (Matthew 16v16, NIV) and Jesus had said it was His Father in
heaven who had revealed it to Peter, not flesh and blood, his reaction to
Jesus’ telling them of His death and resurrection was to rebuke Him. Matthew
16v21-23, (NIV) says “From that time on Jesus began to explain to His disciples
that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders,
the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and
on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke
Him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and
said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; you do
not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Supplementary Text
“Since
God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never know Him through human
wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is
foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the
Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the
Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But to those called
by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the
wisdom of God.”1 Corinthians 1v21-24 (NLT)
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your wisdom. Father, we pray that we will indeed come
to know You more and more, and know Your ways in Jesus name, amen.
