The presence of the Lord (4)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For
I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that our forefathers were all under
and protected by the cloud [in which God’s presence went before them], and
every one of them passed safely through the [Red] Sea,” 1 Corinthians 10v1
(AMP)
The
presence of the Lord in the life of a person attracts divine favor. To favor
can mean to – prefer, support, assist someone or something, show somebody
preferential treatment, treat somebody or something with kindness. You can
imagine the opposite of this, whereby someone is in a situation where no one
wants to help, support, or assist them, they are never shown any preferential
treatment, or receive kindness. God’s presence with a person, gives them favor.
Proverbs 16v7 (KJV) says “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He maketh even his
enemies to be at peace with him.” Indeed, it is better to seek God’s favor than
that of any person. Proverbs 29v26 (AMP) tells us that “Many crave and seek the
ruler’s favor, but the wise man [waits] for justice from the Lord.” A classic
example of someone who enjoyed the presence and favor of God was Joseph. God
was with him when he was sold into slavery and in Potiphar’s house, and when he
was in prison (Genesis 39). A lesson from Joseph’s life is that because trials
come or things are not working the way you expect them to doesn’t mean God
isn’t working. Romans 8v28 (NLT) is a good reminder saying “And we know that
God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and
are called according to His purpose for them.”
Supplementary Verse
“We
have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work Thou didst
in their days, in the times of old. How Thou didst drive out the heathen with
Thy hand, and plantedst them; how Thou didst afflict the people, and cast them
out. For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did
their own arm save them: but Thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of
Thy countenance, because Thou hadst a favour unto them.” Psalm 44v1-3 (KJV)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You so much for Your Word. Father please let me always abide in Your
presence and enjoy favour with God and man in Jesus name, amen.
