To save some (3)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“… Yes, I try to find common ground with
everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the
Good News and share in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9v22-23 (NIV)
Have
you ever been somewhere and you started smelling the aroma of the food someone
else was making? Or, have you passed another place and just smelt such a foul
and offensive smell. With or without believers knowing it, God is using us to
let people know about Him. There is something about a child of God that catches
the attention of the world. While we are peculiar, one way in which to let
people know about Jesus is to start a conversation with them, and find a common
ground with them. Jesus met a woman at the well of Samaria, and He spoke to her
saying “Please give me a drink.” The Bible says “The woman was surprised, for
Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are
a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus replied,
“If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you
would ask Me, and I would give you living water” (John 4v7, 9-10, NLT).
Iniquity separates us from God (Isaiah 59v2), but He loves the world (John
3v16). God was reconciling the world to Himself through Jesus, and now, we are
Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5v19-20). We can show love. How? Be patient
with people, be kind to them, don’t be rude, proud, arrogant, self-seeking.
Remember, love never fails! (see 1 Corinthians 13). Some people have never
experienced true and genuine love. One day, perhaps, they will ask you about
what makes the difference in you.
Supplementary text
“And
all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ.
And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in
Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins
against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we
are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for
Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”” 2 Corinthians 5v17-19 (NLT)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for our Word. We thank You for Your love that is shed abroad in
our hearts by Your Spirit. We thank You for the Greater One that is on the
inside of us. We pray Father that we would indeed walk in love and be lights to
this world, and be Christ’s ambassadors in Jesus name, amen.
