Life or Death?
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary
Text
“Now
the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is
death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and
hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both
now and forever].” Romans 8v6 (AMP)
“So
letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the
Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 8v6 (NLT)
The
orientation of your mind will determine whether you will end up in “death” or
in “life”, both now and for all eternity. Who is in control of your mind? What
are you longing for, desiring, walking after? Is your orientation all about
yourself, following after the dictates of the flesh, or are you allowing God’s
Spirit to guide you. Galatians 5v19-26 (see below) shows a distinction between
the deeds of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. If you are looking for the
Spirit of God to control your mind, and you are having a tough time - pray
about it. Remember the Lord said: “If ye then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?” Luke 11v13 (KJV).
Galatians 5v19-26
(AMP)
“Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are
clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, Idolatry, sorcery,
enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions
(dissensions), party spirit (factions, sect with peculiar opinions, heresies),
Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I
did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of
God. But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within
accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper,
forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness,
humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there
is no law [that can bring a charge]. And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the
Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions
and appetites and desires. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by
the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward
walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] Let us not become
vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and
irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.”
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for Your Word in Jesus name, amen. Father, I want to be controlled
by Your Spirit, led and driven by Him, I don’t want to walk according to the
flesh. Please help me. I yield to You precious Holy Spirit of God, in Jesus
name, amen.
