Do not be discouraged (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Once again we look at the fact that God will not have us be discouraged. Let us always believe the Lord’s report. Let’s take the case of the children of Israel, hen they ere about to enter the promise land. Numbers 13 records the report that was brought by the spies who sent to the land.

Their Report as (Numbers 13 v27-33, AMP): “They told Moses, We came to the land to which you sent us; surely it flows with milk and honey. This is its fruit. But the people who dwell there are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large; moreover, there we saw the sons of Anak [of great stature and courage]. Amalek dwells in the land of the South (the Negeb); the Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country; and the Canaanite dwells by the sea and along by the side of the Jordan [River]. Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once and possess it; we are well able to conquer it. But his fellow scouts said, We are not able to go up against the people [of Canaan], for they are stronger than we are. So they brought the Israelites an evil report of the land, which they had scouted out, saying, The land through which we went to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the Nephilim [or giants], the sons of Anak, who come from the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

Discouragement can come from things that happen, things we hear, see and believe. But whose report will you believe? Because of what the people heard, they were discouraged and reacted in this manner: “Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. “Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?” Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!” (Numbers 14v1-4, NLT). You may think, after all what God did for them in Egypt, didn’t they believe that He who had said He has given the land to Him, would see them through? Beloved, when we get discouraged, and lose heart, we can be likened to responding like the Israelites; believing the report of others against God. Let us not be moved by things but only the word of God. Let us encourage ourselves in the Lord in the face of adversity and sad times instead of being discouraged.

Prayer
Father, we thank You for You are with us. Thank You for Your mercy. Father, forgive us for times we have responded in fear, discouragement and unbelief and help us to remember that you are always working and help us to have that unbending trust in You always in Jesus name, amen.
