Rescue
Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Now if [all these things are true, then be sure] the Lord knows how to
rescue the godly out of temptations and trials, and how to keep the
ungodly under chastisement until the day of judgment and doom,” 2 Peter
2v9 (AMP)
What are these things that this verse is saying if they are true, in
reaching the conclusion it does. Well, the previous verses had spoken of how
God is holding the angels that rebelled (from the Dakes concordance, it seems
it is those who left their natural state and slept with women); kept Noah
during the flood; rescued Lot before Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed. The
conclusion then is “… the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to
hold the unrighteous punishment on the day of judgment.” (2 Peter 2v9, NIV).
Indeed, the Lord knows how to keep the godly from trials – day to day trials
like: He rescued Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, when they were thrown in the
fiery furnace, which had been heated up 7 times more than normal (Daniel 3); He
shut the mouth of the lions when Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den (Daniel
6); He rescued the Israelites from Egypt (Exodus 5 - Exodus 14); and also from
being killed after the evil Haman wanted to annihilate them (Esther 3 - Esther
7).
He also knows how to rescue the righteous from the wrath of God and
judgment that will come on the earth. John 3v35-36 (AMP) says “The Father loves
the Son and has given (entrusted, committed) everything into His hand. And he
who believes in (has faith in, clings to, relies on) the Son has (now possesses)
eternal life. But whoever disobeys (is unbelieving toward, refuses to trust in,
disregards, is not subject to) the Son will never see (experience) life, but
[instead] the wrath of God abides on him. [God’s displeasure remains on him;
His indignation hangs over him continually.]” What is your relationship with
the Son of God?
Supplementary Text
“Since you have kept My command to endure patiently, I will also keep
you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the
inhabitants of the earth.” Revelations 3v10 (NIV)
