The Holy Spirit and our Inheritance in Christ

Dearly Beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. Ephesians 1v 4&11 lets us know that God loved us and chose us in Christ even before the foundation of the world, therefore we are God’s own heritage. Moreover, we were also given an inheritance in Him, because we are united with Christ. Hallelujah. Ephesians 1v13-14 (NLT) say “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as His own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him.” The Spirit of God is also called the Spirit of Christ, and anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to God (Romans 8v9). The Holy Spirit is the mark that we belong to God and we have an inheritance in Him.

The Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of adoption, who lets us know that we belong to God. Romans 8v15-18 (AMPC) says “For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God. And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.” Amen. The Holy Spirit therefore plays a big role in revealing Christ to us, letting us know what belongs to us, and relaying messages from God the Father and Jesus to us. We thank God for giving us the Holy Spirit, the Comforter to be with us always.

Prayer

Father, we thank You for the gift of the Spirit. We are grateful. We pray that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit will be with us now and forevermore, in Jesus name, amen.
