Follow Good - Always
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in
the Lord. Happy Sunday everyone. I hope your day has been going great so far.
Primary Text
“Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do
good?” 1 Peter 3v13 (NLT)
This question follows from earlier verses which say
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love
each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble
attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people
insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. This is what God has called
you to do, and He will bless you for it. For the Scriptures say, “If you want
to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and
your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil, and do good. Search for
peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do
right, and His ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns His face
against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3v8-12 (NLT). These are truths we should
bear in mind. Now, there are situations where we do good and yet we suffer for
it, but the Bible says “But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God
will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.” (1 Peter
3v13, NLT). So, it always pays to fear God and do good, because if you do evil
because of others, 1 Peter 3v12 (AMP) says “… But the face of the Lord is
against those who practice evil [to oppose them, to frustrate, and defeat
them].” I am reminded of Galatians 5v22-23 which speaks of the fruit of the
Spirit – love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control – and how there is no law against them. Continue
to do good brethren. Galatians 6v10 (NIV) gives a good encouragement of this
saying “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Supplementary Text
“He that
diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it
shall come unto him.” Proverbs 11v27 (KJV)
Father, I thank You for Your Word. I thank
You because in me is no good thing, but the Spirit of God in me produces
goodness. Help me always to do good Lord and to fear You always, in Jesus name,
amen.
