Shun Evil!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in
the Lord. We thank God for He is good and His mercy endureth forever (Psalm
106v1).
Primary Text
“For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good
– whether apparent or not] keep his tongue from evil and his lips from guile
(treachery, deceit). Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right…” 1 Peter 3v10 (AMP)
The wicked do not have a right standing with God, they turn
to other gods, and depart from the Lord, they are “disobedient and living
without God” (Psalm 1v5, AMP). Psalm 37 is a good reminder of these words to
turn from evil and do good. Verses 1-4 say “Fret not thyself because of
evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they
shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in
the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt
be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and He shall give thee the desires of
thine heart.” Are you being tempted to turn from the Lord or not to do good?
Hang onto the Lord, and His Word. He is faithful. No compromise!!! If you have
started to compromise, it’s time to repent and make things right with God.
Supplementary Text
“Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous,
and enviable) is the man who walks and
lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans
and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners
walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers]
gather. But his delight and desire
are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the
teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by
night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams
of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not
fade or wither; and everything he
does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. Not so the wicked [those disobedient
and living without God are not so]. But they are like the chaff [worthless,
dead, without substance] which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked
[those disobedient and living without God] shall not stand [justified] in the
judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous [those who are
upright and in right standing with God]. For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of
the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God’s will]
shall perish (end in ruin and come to nought).” Psalm 1 (AMP)
And perhaps you do not even yet have a
relationship with the Lord, then it is time to make things right with Him. The
Bible says:
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in
your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth
that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10v9-10
You can say this prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to You today,
confessing that I am a sinner. I am sorry for all that I have done and ask that
You forgive me for all of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Lord
Jesus, I ask that You be Lord and Saviour over my life. I believe that You came
to die for my sins, and that God raised You from the dead. Thank You Father for
translating me out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Your dear
Son. Thank You for sealing me with Your Holy Spirit of promise. Please keep me
till the end in You, and may Your Name alone be glorified in my life, in Jesus
name I pray, amen.
If you said this prayer today, know that you are now a child of God and
that there is much jubilation in heaven because of you. Begin to attend a
Bible-believing church, and keep the faith! Welcome into God’s family.
