Before the day of the Lord comes
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Let no one deceive
or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes
first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to
be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the
son of doom (of perdition), Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and
insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshiped, [even
to his actually] taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he
himself is God. Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you
these things?” 2 Thessalonians 2v3-5 (AMP)
The church is Thessalonica
is here encouraged not to be deceived concerning those who say that the day of
Christ is at hand (see 2 Thessalonians 2v1-2). Here we are told that two things
have to happen before that day comes. On the one hand there would be an
apostasy. Secondly, the man of lawlessness, also called the son of perdition
would come. The apostasy is said to be a time of a great falling away/rebellion
against God. Matthew 24v10-12 (NIV) says “At that time many will turn away from
the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will
appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love
of most will grow cold,” The actually time of the apostasy, I don’t know… but
we know that iniquity is already on the increase in the world, and I pray that
we would continue to be strengthened and encouraged in our faith in Jesus name,
amen.
Supplementary Text
“And then many will
be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert [Him Whom they
ought to trust and obey] and will stumble and fall away and betray one another
and pursue one another with hatred. And many false prophets will rise up and
deceive and lead many into error. And the love of the great body of people will
grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,” Matthew 24v10-12
(AMP)
Prayer
