Power for goodness
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Wherefore
also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this
calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of
faith with power:” 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (KJV)
“So
we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy
of His call. May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your
faith prompts you to do.” 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (NLT)
“And
so we keep on praying for you, that our God will make you the kind of children
He wants to have – will make you as good as you wish you could be! – rewarding
your faith with His power.” 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (NIV)
“With
this in view we constantly pray for you, that our God may deem and count you
worthy of [your] calling and [His] every gracious purpose of goodness, and with
power may complete in [your] every particular work of faith (faith which is
that leaning of the whole human personality on God in absolute trust and
confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).” 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (AMP)
The
prayer here is Lord, help us to live lives that are worthy of Your call on our
lives. It is a prayer that seeks to have God glorified in one’s life. But
beyond that, it is a prayer for the power and enablement to be able to be this
kind of person and to bring to fruition those good deeds that one begins to
desire to do as a child of God. Philippians 1v9-11 (TLB) also says “My prayer
for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at
the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight, for I want
you always to see clearly the difference between right and wrong, and to be
inwardly clean, no one being able to criticize you from now until our Lord
returns. May you always be doing those good, kind things that show you are a
child of God, for this will bring much praise and glory to the Lord.”
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for who You are to us. Most High God we honor You and we pray from
2 Thessalonians 1v11 (NIV) that You may make us worthy of Your calling, and
that by Your power You may bring to fruition our every desire for goodness and
our every deed prompted by faith, in Jesus name, amen.
