The Word of the Lord

“As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3v1 (NIV)

“Finally, dear brothers, as I come to the end of this letter, I ask you to pray for us. Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and triumph wherever it goes, winning converts everywhere as it did when it came to you.” 2 Thessalonians 3v1 (TLB)

“Furthermore, brethren, do pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified (extolled) and triumph, even as [it has done] with you,” 2 Thessalonians 3v1 (AMP)

We thank God for His Word and the Gospel. When Jesus was about to depart, He gave the great commission for the disciples to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel. This commission continues on to believers today. The above prayer reflects the need to pray for those who preach the Gospel, and for the expansion and effective receipt of the Word of the Lord wherever it is preached.

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Word and the good news of the Gospel. We pray for missionaries all over the world, for evangelists and for every believer. We pray that the Word of the Lord may spread rapidly and triumph wherever it goes. We pray that converts would be won everywhere the Word is preached in Jesus name, amen. We know that the harvest is ripe but the labourers are few, and so we ask that You O Lord of the harvest would send forth labourers into Your vineyard. We pray for courage and boldness to preach the Word and to stand for the truth of God unashamedly. We pray in all these things Your name and Your name alone will be glorified. All this we pray in Jesus name, amen.
