Have faith in God
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day?
I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for Jesus. The Bible tells
us:
Primary Text:
“We are surrounded by a great
cloud of people whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race
that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything
that would get in the way and the sin that so easily holds us back.” Hebrews
12v1 (NCV)
Hebrews 11 tells us of those
who have gone on before us, people of faith like Abel, who offered a more
excellent offering than Cain (v4), Enoch, who “was translated that he should
not see death; AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TRANSLATED HIM: for before
his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God” (v5). It talks of
Noah, and Abraham, and Sarah, who through faith “received strength to conceive
seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged
Him faithful who had promised.” (v11) It tells us of Isaac, Joseph, Rahab, and
says: “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon,
and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephtha-e; of David also, and Samuel, and
of the prophets:” (v32). Imagine if God had said, follow me, and we did not
have His Word and examples of those who had gone ahead of us and show forth His
faithfulness. But we have these examples. We have a cloud of witnesses. We can
point to David, and Ruth and Abraham and Joseph. God has proved Himself
faithful over and over and over again. These people went through tough times,
had their faith challenged, but didn’t look back. We are advised not to give
up, and to remove from our lives those things that would get in the way. You
know in whom you have believed, hang onto Him.
Supplementary Text
“By faith Moses, when he was born,
was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child;
and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. By faith Moses, when he was
come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing
rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures
of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the
treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.”
Hebrews 11v23-26 (KJV)
