Watch that thought (9)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well
and bubbling in the Lord. Our God is truly faithful, wonderful and amazing.
Thoughts are so important, because they have an interesting way of affecting
how we see things, and how we react to things. That’s why Paul writes here, by
the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that:
Primary Text:
“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome
and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy
of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds
on them].” Philippians 6v8 (AMP).
Regardless of what we are going through, we
should watch what we allow our minds to be fixed on. It’s also very important
to know the Word of God, because that is what helps us to see things in the
right way. The Bible tells us that “Guard your heart above all else, for it
determines the course of your life” (Proverbs 4v23, NLT); and “For as he
thinketh in his heart, so is he: ….” (Proverbs 23v7, KJV). Be very careful to
watch what you fix your mind on. A thought can come here and there, and based
on what we see around us, but if it is not true, worthy of reverence,
honorable, just, pure, lovely, kind, of virtue and excellence, and worthy of praise,
let it go, quickly. Hallelujah.
Supplementary Text
“A good man out of the good treasure of his
heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil
treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the
abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6v45 (KJV)
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your
Word. Lord Jesus, we know that You are the Vine and we are the branches and
apart from You we are nothing. We are asking today that Your Spirit take total
control of our minds, and our hearts. We want to glorify You in our thoughts
and see things the way You do. We want to be conformed to the image of Christ.
We want to fix our thoughts on things that are worthy of praise. We need You to
do this, and we come boldly before Your throne of grace where we can obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need, and ask You to help us do this.
We pray that the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts will
always glorify You O Lord, our strength and our Redeemer. We ask all this in
Jesus name, amen.
