“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the
praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” 1
Peter 2v9 (KJV)
“Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties
and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a
chance to grow. So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems.
For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for
anything, strong in character, full and complete. If you want to know what God
wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready
to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; He will not resent
it.” James 1v2-5 (TLB)
The Bible calls us a peculiar people. And
what do peculiar people do – they do things different from how everybody else
does it. They act in peculiar ways. Now it might not always “seem” easy to do,
but they have the empowerment to act in such a way. They have the ability to do
it. How do you act or react to normal everyday activities? What of to the
really hardcore, biting, painful situations, where you are in it with a bunch
of people? An example of this is Paul and Silas when they were thrown in jail,
and there were other prisoners there; Daniel and his friends, when they were
all going to be killed because the king could not find anyone to tell him his
dream or interpret it. We know that in the case of Daniel and his friends,
Daniel explained the matter to his friends and asked them to pray unto God for
mercy concerning the mystery. As for Paul and Silas, the Bible records that:
“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the
prisoners heard them” (Acts 16v25, KJV). The fact of the matter is that
peculiar people have a hope and a God that they can cry out to and depend on.
They have a way of escape, and with each situation that presents itself,
regardless of how dire it may seem, and with whomever they have in the same
boat as they are, they can call unto God. Isn’t that wonderful. Praise the
Lord.

Text
“Lord, how are they increased that trouble
me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul,
There is no help for him in God. But Thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my
glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and
He heard me out of His holy hill. I laid me down and slept; I awakened; for the
LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have
set themselves against me round about. Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for
Thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone: Thou hast broken the
teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: Thy blessing is upon
Thy people.” Psalm 3 (KJV)
Prayer
Dear Lord, help me realize that whenever
dire situations present themselves, they are wonderful opportunities for Your
name again to be glorified in Jesus name, amen.
