An Assurance of our Inheritance

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. 

Primary Text 

“In whom also we have obtained an inheritance…” Ephesians 1v11 (KJV) 

“In Him we also were made [God’s] heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance;…” Ephesians 1v11 (AMP)

Not only did God save us, but He adopted us into the family, and made us heirs and co-heirs with our Lord Jesus Christ; and gave us an inheritance. This inheritance is given to all those whose sins are forgiven and have been set apart because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 26v18 (TLB) says “to open their eyes to their true condition so that they may repent and live in the light of God instead of in Satan’s darkness, so that they may receive forgiveness for their sins and God’s inheritance along with all people everywhere whose sins are cleansed away, who are set apart by faith in me.’” Indeed, this inheritance is given by faith in Jesus and not through the fulfillment of the law (Galatians 3v18), for we must remember that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one can come to the Father except through Him (John 14v6). Now, one way in which God guarantees that He will give us the inheritance He promised us is by sealing us with His Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1v13-14 (AMP) says “In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit. That [Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance [the firstfruits, the pledge and foretaste, the down payment on our heritage], in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring [complete] possession of it—to the praise of His glory.”

Prayer

Father, we thank You for the great plan of salvation, to cleanse us from our sins and from guilt. We believe in You. We believe in Jesus the Son of God. We believe in the Holy Spirit of God. Have Your way in our lives this day and always in Jesus name, amen.
