Be done with it

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for we have cause to rejoice.

Primary Text
“SO BE done with every trace wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind.” 1 Peter 2v1 (AMP)

It’s interesting that this instruction is given to us as believers. It denotes an action that needs to be done on our path. Some translations say “Wherefore laying aside….” and “Therefore, rid yourselves of all…” and “So get rid of all …” Malice, deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, envy are things we are to get rid of in our lives. Yes we have given our lives to Christ, and we have the Spirit of God on the inside of us, but we still need to walk with the Spirit, and agree with Him. Galatians 5v25-26 (KJV) says “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” God is indeed working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2v13), but when He says this is wrong My son or My daughter, or this is bad, then we should be willing to do away with it. Let us work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2v12). James 1v22 tells us that “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” And Romans 12v1 tells us to offer up our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable worship. As always, we thank God for His Spirit is here to help us to mortify the deeds of the body (Romans 8v13). But remember when you are being chastised of the Lord, don’t despise it, He does it that you may be partakers of His holiness (see Hebrews 12v5-11). Hallelujah.

Supplementary Text
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord; walk as children of light:” Ephesians 5v8 (KJV)

Father, I thank You for Your Word, and pray that You would search me o Lord and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting in Jesus name, amen.
