I will remember
Hello
everyone,
How are
you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“I cry out
to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me! When I was in deep
trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted
toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted. I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed
with longing for his help. You don’t let me sleep. I am too distressed even to
pray! I think of the good old days, long since
ended, when my nights were filled with joyful songs. I search my soul and
ponder the difference now. Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never
again be kind to me? Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises
permanently failed? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the
door on his compassion? And I said, “This is my fate; the Most High
has turned his hand against me.” But then I recall all you have done, O Lord;
I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my
thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. O God, your ways
are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you? You are
the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.
By your strong arm, you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and
Joseph. When the Red Sea[a] saw you, O God, its waters looked
and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths. The
clouds poured down rain; the thunder rumbled in the sky. Your arrows of
lightning flashed. Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning
lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook. Your
road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a
pathway no one knew was there! You led your people along that road like a flock
of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.” Psalm 77 (NLT)
I find
that whenever we are faced with any kind of difficult situation, it is very
important to remember what the Lord has done. David was apt at doing this when
he faced Goliath, and even when he was going through very tough times. In the
verses above, we find that the Psalmist was in another difficult situation but
he chose to remember the goodness and the faithfulness of God. God likes that.
One reason God was upset with the children of Israel is they failed to remember
or make the connection between His past faithfulness, goodness and current
challenges they were facing. Beloved, do remember the years of the right hand
of the Lord. Begin to speak to any situation that has been taunting you, that
the Lord, who delivered me and my family from poverty and distress, will
deliver me from this economic crisis. The God who has been my Lord and guided
me through my many years, will guide me again. The Most High who has been my
shield and defense, both physically and spiritually, He will defend me even
now. Hallelujah….
Supplementary Text
“And David
said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and
a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote
him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught
him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion
and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing
he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, the LORD that
delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He
will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David,
Go, and the LORD be with thee.” 1 Samuel 17v34-37 (KJV)
Prayer
Why don’t
you begin to remind God of His faithfulness, and recount His goodness, and use that
to face any challenge you are going through.
