Flee
Hello
everyone,
How are
you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Flee the evil desires of youth
and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on
the Lord out of a pure heart..” 2 Timothy 2v22 (NIV)
“Flee fornication. Every sin that
a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth
against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6v18 (KJV)
“So, my
dear friends, flee from
the worship of idols.” 1 Corinthians 10v14 (NLT
There are
certain things that the Bible tells us to flee from as we see in the different
verses of scripture above. Synonyms for flee include abscond, bolt, escape and
fly. The Bible is therefore saying, whenever the evil desires of youth,
fornication, and the worship of idol are present, we should flee, abscond,
bolt, escape and fly away from it. We thank God that His word says that “There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Supplementary Text
“But
godliness with contentment is great gain. For we
brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But
if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those
who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many
foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some
people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced
themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and
pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and
gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6v6-11 (NIV)
Prayer
Father, we
thank You for Your word and the caution that it gives us that we might live a
life that glorifies You. Grant us the grace to flee every appearance of evil,
and help us always to take the way of escape that You present to us in Jesus
name, amen.
