False
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“[Yet]
first [you must] understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is [a matter]
of any personal or private or special interpretation (loosening,
solving). For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so
– it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along
(moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit. But also [in those days] there arose
false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among
yourselves, who will subtly and
stealthily introduce heretical doctrines (destructive heresies), even denying and disowning the Master Who bought them,
bringing upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 1v20-21 – 2 Peter 2v1
(AMP)
The
Scripture is here telling us that words of prophesy do not have their origins
from the will of men, but people were moved by the Holy Spirit, and thus spoke.
That said, in those days there still arose false prophets among the people. And
what is even more important and should be noted is that Peter is telling us
that even as at when he wrote, there will be false teachers that will arise, as
are now. In Deuteronomy 13v1-3 (NIV), the Bible says “If a prophet or one who
foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder,
and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us
follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” you
must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is
testing you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all
your soul.” Child of God, because some person tells you something and it comes
to pass, or can conjure things, doesn’t mean they have the Spirit of God.
Remember initially the magicians of Pharaoh also turned rods into snakes and
water into blood (Exodus 7v10-12, 20-22). But they were not of God. 1 John 4v1
says:
Supplementary Text
“Beloved,
do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover
whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the
world. By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every
spirit which acknowledges and
confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has
God for its source]; And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever,
disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession]
is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and
now it is already in the world.” 1 John 4v1-3 (AMP)
Prayer
Father
we thank You for Your Word this day. We pray for the ability to discern whether
a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. We pray that we
would not have itchy ears that want to hear what we want to hear, but that we
would be open to the truth and will endure sound teaching in Jesus name,
amen.
