One day <-> One thousand years
Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day
is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter
3v8 (KJV)
“But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is
like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.” 2 Peter
3v8 (NLT)
The Word of the Lord is here telling us that God’s concept of
time and ours is totally different, and this has implications. For example,
when we speak of Jesus coming back, and of mockers saying, “Where is this ‘coming’
He promised?” (2 Peter 3v4, NIV), well, one day is like a thousand years for
the Lord, and a thousand years like a day. So while we may be saying o, so many
years have gone by, for the Lord it is like less than a day. You can imagine as
well this applying to a situation where you are praying, and fasting, and
waiting on the Lord for something, and it just seems to be taking sooooooooo
long. Dear friend, don’t forget “…A day is like a thousand years to the Lord,
and a thousand years is like a day” 2 Peter 3v8 (NLT).
My aunty once told me it
doesn’t take a second for God to do what He has to do, and that God knows how
to cook His children. Looking at a thousand years being like a day with the
Lord, could mean, it doesn’t take God any amount of time to do what He has to
do. He can do it just like that! For example, the Lord spoke to Saul, and the
person who had been persecuting the Christians had such a dramatic turn around
in his life, he becoming Paul. Now, one could say you need years for him to
have been who he was and accomplished what he did. See again, the life of our
Lord Jesus, and all that was accomplished in the years of His ministry.
Beloved, remember as well Isaiah 55v8-9 (AMP) says “For My thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens
are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts
than your thoughts.” “… Have faith in God.” (Mark 11v22, KJV).
Supplementary Text
“To You, a thousand years is like the passing of a day, or like
a few hours in the night.” Psalm 90v4 (NCV)
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word. Father, when things
seem to be taking so long or in other cases seem so short, help us to
understand Your concept of time, in Jesus name, amen.
