Scoffers

Hello everyone,

How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires And say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3v3-4 (AMP)

“First off, you need to know that in the last days, mockers are going to have a heyday. Reducing everything to the level of their puny feelings, they’ll mock, “So what’s happened to the promise of His Coming? Our ancestors are dead and buried, and everything’s going on just as it has from the first day of creation. Nothing’s changed.”  2 Peter 3v3-4 (MSG)

First thing Peter says that the believers should know and understand, is that there would be mockers and scoffers in the last days. What do these do? They follow after their own desires and feelings, basically doing what they want to do. Jude 1v18 (NIV) saying “They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” Another thing they would do is to say, so, where is the promise of Jesus coming again. You have been saying this for a while now, and nothing has changed since the beginning of creation. Child of God, don’t join the scoffing crowd. Psalm 1v1-2 (AMP) reminds us that “Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.”

Supplementary Text
“A scoffer seeks Wisdom in vain [for his very attitude blinds and deafens him to it], but knowledge is easy to him who [being teachable] understands.” Proverbs 14v6 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for today. Thank You for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to continue to shine as lights in the world, that men and women will see and put their trust in You in Jesus name, amen.
